The Great Miami Rowing Center offers a beginner-based rowing program for middle school students (ages 11-14). Participants learn the essentials of sweep rowing and sculling with both land training on rowing machines and on-the-water training on the Great Miami River. The focus is on basic rowing skills and terms with an emphasis on learning how to row as a crew of 2, 4 or 8. With the addition of kayaks to our fleet of equipment, day campers will also spend an afternoon in kayaks to get a full range of on water experience. As a boater safety education program, we feature water and river safety lessons. Our day camp is an immersion learning opportunity that is great preparation for rowing in high school.
